Chris Shin hosts an entertaining evening of spontaneous, witty, high-energy comedy, blending playful observations with lively audience interaction. From the outset, he invites the audience into the experience, gently poking fun at one’s own pretensions, resulting in a relaxed yet electric atmosphere.

Uncorked Comedy delivers five generous tastings of white and red wines, served properly in real glasses, not plastic tumblers, complemented by engaging wine trivia and amusing tales. The pacing is well judged, maintaining momentum throughout while keeping the energy buoyant from start to finish.

A standout strength of the show is Shin’s ability to read the room. He responds enthusiastically to audience contributions with hilarious, unscripted banter, demonstrating an instinct for pushing boundaries just far enough to land the laugh, walking the line without crossing it. Being bold by choice is a rare talent, and Shin navigates it with confidence, engaging the entire room and, more importantly, getting away with it.

Audience participation is seamlessly woven into the fabric of the show. Stories shared early on are cleverly revisited later, creating smart, spontaneous callback humour with an improvisational twist. Shin skilfully loops back to audience anecdotes, transforming them into running jokes that make the room feel collectively in on the act.

This is an excellent show for lovers of impromptu comedy and wine alike, although if you are a connoisseur of wines, your opinion will be requested.

Uncorked Comedy is a thoroughly palatable show and not to be missed. Expect a nose of fruitiness, a spicy aftertaste, and a hint of rose petal tea, or was it plum, dark chocolate and cream?
