A HISTORY COMEDY SHOW’s Australian debut was an enjoyable show that history buffs should check out. All the way from the United Kingdom come comedians to entertain AND educate. If you have ever wanted to see your favourite historical figure perform stand-up comedy, now is a great chance.

There was an obvious interest in history among the acts. Each stand-up set was sound, each performer confident in their style. They all had an engaging and friendly demeanour, involving crowdwork wherever it made sense to.

This show gives you a chance to share a fun fact about your favourite historical eras, monuments or figures and strike up new and interesting conversations. I personally learned quite a bit from the short, 50-minute set, not only from the performers but from fellow audience members who were given the chance to share something of interest to them. The performers’ passion for history made me consider learning more.

While we laughed at many points in the show, I found it more educational and thought-provoking than funny. It reflected the importance of recognising history while also being able to grow from it. Personal and in-character anecdotes were used to get this point across, which made the show feel more intimate and sincere.

A big, lively crowd would do this show justice. It is a great premise that would benefit from an engaged and equally history-loving audience.
