Stop the Heart makes me want to experience my own travel love affair.
This one-man performance details a hot hook-up turned love affair on his Japanese holiday with a sexy Italian American. Who uncovers, between pillow talk and great sex, that the man he's been sleeping with voted for Trump. This is the most insane post-holiday debrief yet!
Fletcher Scully is an extremely compelling storyteller. He grabs you by the hand and performs with the urgency of a friend returning from a trip with the craziest story to tell. You are hanging on every word, with the words “No!” “There's no way!” on the tip of your tongue.
“When you're in your 20s, everyone is either in love or in Japan, and girls, I was in Japan.”
This bookend story encapsulates the modern moral dilemma of dating someone with opposing beliefs and raises questions about whether it's a deal breaker. Stop the Heart asks the question in every early 20s mind and answers it through dance, evocative storytelling and witty writing.
I cheered, I laughed, and you couldn’t wipe the smile off of my face. If you are a lover of Lady Gaga and Brittany Spears references and the emotive, “we were boys together”, this one's for you.
