Jessie Gordon and Mark Turner are undoubtedly two of Perth’s best singer-songwriters. The duo are back at FRINGE WORLD Festival with a brand-new show – Jessie Gordon and Mark Turner: Definitely Not Jazz – that is the perfect addition to your 2025 FRINGE WORLD Festival viewing calendar!

Filling The Ellington with their sultry melodies and golden notes, they captivate the audience with their chemistry. Local legends and accomplished performers, Jessie and Mark make magic. Definitely Not Jazz showcases the duo’s combined bucket-load of talent. Jessie’s effervescent, honey-laced voice effortlessly harmonises with Mark’s charismatic crooning and sweet guitar strumming as they belt out songs from their extensive repertoire covering blues, folk, swing, and stacks of gorgeous original songs. But not jazz. Definitely. Not. Jazz.

With a friendship spanning over 20 years, Jessie and Mark have the sort of bond where they know exactly what the other is thinking, and it’s an absolute delight to watch. The ease with which they perform together is second to none, slipping into each tune flawlessly and poking fun at each other in between songs—many of which they have written together.

Highlights of the night include a couple of rewritten classics poking fun at the emergence of swathes of Instagram ‘health professionals,’ a cheeky little ditty called The Pastry Song, and Mark’s lovely new tune Water, which he wrote after a special trip down south with his brother. If you’re lucky, you’ll even get a cameo from Mark’s famous light-up saxophone.
