So relatable. Some of the feminist stuff was quite profound really. Loved it.

A hilarious and unique look at over 40 womanhood!

What is it like to be female, 40+ and fabulous? Well, if you don't know first-hand, get yourself to FRINGE WORLD and see the hilarious Emma Krause in her award-winning show. She takes the audience on a journey into her world and exposes the funny side of her demographic.

At the beginning of the show, she tells us she's a teacher. And her performance is enhanced by teacherly props such as; books and prompt notes. The books in particular are very entertaining. Especially one that she reads from which was aimed at the 1950's housewife. Emma spoke of typical gender roles and her views on them, including how women of certain ages are portrayed in the media. But most of the performance was based on her own personal life experience.

Krause engaged the audience in the intimate performance space right from the get go. Asking us to make a sound (not with words) about how we were feeling tonight. She pitted half of the audience against the other in this 'whoop' off. It felt great to be part of the act. And the crowd really got involved. Not only that but they laughed gregariously throughout the entire show. And she deserved it. She was funny and her comedy was delivered with warmth. Making the performance even more enjoyable.

Right at the end she took us into her confidence and explained how nervous she was at the beginning of her career as a comic. And how she was encouraged by another performer to 'stick with it' especially due to the lack of women stand up artists. Furthermore, she went on to explain how her elderly Grandmother told her that you don't regret the things you did but rather the things you didn't do. I didn't expect such candour from a comedy act. This left me contemplating goals in my own life, long after the laughs were over. Definitely worth seeing!
