What a delight! Melvin Brown is a truly delightful mix of everything R ‘n’ B. He’s the whole package – a great voice; the twinkle-toes of tap; and an engaging story and joke teller. But the best bit is the laugh! If ever there was a signature laugh, Melvin Brown’s is it. Very amusing and very contagious!

Melvin dedicated the evening to the life of the legendary “King of Soul”, Sam Cooke, telling the story of Cooke’s life through his singing, tap-dancing, and comedy. The sad end to Cooke’s life was poignantly conveyed in Melvin’s touching rendition of “I’m Gonna Love You”.

The audience was treated to almost one and a half hours of non-stop entertainment, and Melvin’s energy and stamina would rival anyone half his age. He delivered no less than 18 songs, plus an encore; with each punctuated by a story a joke and, of course, a laugh.

The two backup singers and three-piece band accompanied Melvin perfectly. You’d think they’d been together forever. And special guest, Renee Coyle, tap dancer extraordinaire in her own right, wowed the crowd with her unexpected appearance and talent. In fact, Renee is the owner of the Duke of George, another delightful aspect of the night.

So, if you’re looking for timeless entertainment by a truly accomplished entertainer – Melvin’s definitely your man.
