Sweet guy. Cool name. Fun show.

Japanese Aussie by Takashi Wakasugi is a witty and clever cultural contrast of classic Aussie conduct and Japanese customs.

Takashi’s love of Australia shines as he lends the audience his Japanese lens to have a laugh at some of the absurdities of everyday Aussie life. Flipping the perspective he also raises an eyebrow to some lesser-known Japanese customs (or well-known if you’ve been to Japan!).

This is a comedy based on cultural nuances, which are compared, contrasted, and intertwined in a highly likeable and entertaining show. The audience can’t help but love Takashi’s demeanour. He brings the audience in with his storytelling prowess and gets us laughing about mundane things, which he brings to life through humorous observations.

This entertaining show was a lot more than ‘still’ - not quite ‘sparkling’ - but it had some great fizz. Takashi had more material than you could poke a stick at but his self-proclaimed Japanese politeness may have stopped him just slightly short of the punchlines with this crowd. There were plenty of laughs along the way, with Takashi charismatically navigating cultural differences in his playful, clever style.

Takashi's gestures and amusing comedic stories were a treat for the audience and brought people together through commonalities and personal quirks. This is a highly enjoyable show worth seeing for yourself. Arigato Takashi.
