Venture into the ethereal world of Moist - an utterly delicious and captivating production, masterfully spun by a four-person troupe through a blend of physical theatre, circus, and an absolute downpour of comedic absurdity. Forget your preconceived notions of circus and physical theatre, as Moist throws them both out the window. This brilliantly Avant-garde, boundary-pushing production appears to fly defiantly in the face of tidy genre categorisation.

Moist is the beautiful, kaleidoscopic brainchild of the incredibly talented folk at Express Move Me and Scratch Arts, who have brought together a delightfully queer concoction of physical, fantastical storytelling, mixed with a healthy pour of risqué acrobatics and raunchy dance-club antics. These mixologists have created the juicy cocktail we never knew we wanted, but after a sip, the audience was hooked and thirsty for more.

The narrative premise of the show is introduced at the opening by our esteemed protagonist. The character at the centre of this tale is woefully parched and appeals to the audience to aid in their pursuit of finally quenching an unbearable thirst. While at its core the production is a highly energetic and multifaceted physical performance, our protagonist bequests cohesion to the tapestry of events, interweaving threads of plot (bare threads though they might be), providing a narrative flow and momentum that captivates the audience. It's a show that doesn't take itself too seriously, though its commitment to entertainment is undeniable.

Each act was set to an absolute banger playlist of synth-pop, electro-house, hip hop and dance. The audience was transported into a fantastical club, filled with spandex, mesh tank tops, liquified neon and at all times: sloppy wet fun. I left wishful that the merch could include a show soundtrack (not to mention those ‘Moist’ jockstraps…) so I could stay on that high and unashamedly dance into the night.

I thoroughly recommended this show for punters (18+) seeking an energetic, entertaining and high-quality physical performance that ventures into the ‘wet and wild’ side of what FRINGE WORLD has to offer.

Though, best prepare yourself… you’ll leave this show with more than just your thirst quenched… you WILL be Moist.
