Sarah-Louise Young is a cabaret performer of international renown and how lucky are the Kate Bush superfans (otherwise known as Fish People after Kate Bush’s record label) that she has chosen to focus her talents on Kate Bush for this show.

What a voice! Kate Bush’s famed four-octave vocal range is quite a challenge, so hats off to Sarah as her rendering of the songs is uncannily evocative of KB herself. And listen out for a very different version of Babushka.

But this is much more than a greatest hits tribute show with storytelling, mime, theatrics and some brilliant costumes into and out of which Sarah slips like a true pop idol. Sarah’s dancing too is great with the eccentricities of Kate Bush’s dance moves affectionately parodied in a sequence that brought roars of laughter.

There is plenty of audience participation but it is all such fun because Sarah is so convivial and puts everyone at ease to the point of wanting to be part of it.

The show was devised and created by Sarah in concert with her long-time collaborator, Russell Lucas. Intelligently written and very well researched, we are lucky to finally see it FRINGE WORLD in 2024.

Most people in the audience will be Fish People or ‘infidels’ dragged there by a close friend, but there is so much to enjoy at both ends of the spectrum. Who doesn’t love the opportunity to let out a few heartfelt howls?

The show is unique, as befits a show based around a maverick musical cult hero. Running Up That Hill being featured in ‘Stranger Things’ has brought Kate Bush back to the forefront of pop culture. Go and see this show and you’ll get a lovely take on why she is so revered.

At the end of the show, as the rhythms of Wuthering Heights echoed around the Spiegeltent, we all, thanks to Sarah-Louise Young’s wonderful performance, went into the night that little bit fonder of our Bush.
