Viva GlasVegas: A Burlesque Showcase from Scotland
Join Scotland's very own GlasVegas Showgirl Roxy Stardust as she presents an hour of burlesque performance featuring a host of homegrown heroes and traveling performers. There will be dancing! There will be tassels! There might even be a haggis or two! Who knows what she's got in store, but in true Scottish fashion we can assure you it certainly will be entertaining. So get ready for an explosive show that’ll be sure to blow the wind right up yer kilt! “Finding a ‘good’ burlesque show that is standalone burlesque and not a good routine as a part of a cabaret show can be challenging. I’ve seen my fair share of misses over the years, but this was different. A brilliant show with skilled and talented dancers and so much laughter!” ★★★★ Fringefeed, 2023
There’s nothing like starting off Fringe with a burlesque show, and Viva GlasVegas is well worth a visit! Being more of a comedy and music fan myself, I didn’t quite know what to expect but was blown away by the skilled performances, stunning costumes, and hilarious entertainment.
Roxy is a cracker of a host with her lively anecdotes, dances, and songs introducing us to some iconic Glaswegian culture along with the impressive international and local acts. Don't mind the accents… You may not understand everything that is said but the visual entertainment is plenty exciting as well!
Quirky, charismatic, and full of energy, each performer had the chance to showcase their individual talents. Whether it be a dance form or comedic display, every act was unique with its own kind of entertaining. All sorts of cheeky props were used including flags and swords as well as a surprise object that got bigger and bigger as the act went on. They had me cheering and laughing (admittedly with the occasional scream) throughout the whole show!
Burlesque as an art form is the epitome of Fringe entertainment and not always everyone’s cup or tea, or dram whisky in this case. This show is tantalising and very suited to its Hot Kleenheat Sizzle Factor so I wouldn’t recommend seeing this one with your parents (unless you’d enjoy watching some tassel twirling together). The audience was made up of adults of all ages who had a great time whooping and cheering for the performers and joining in the “classic” Scottish singalongs.
Aye would thoroughly recommend this show to anyone who’s up for a good time and a good laugh!
