When you say, “I’m seeing a show called Club Burlesque at 11.15 pm”, you paint a certain picture of what you’re in for. Perhaps imagery of a broody, underground burlesque scene springs to mind, or perhaps the expectation of intimate exposure to Perth’s burlesque subculture is set. Well, not only does this show meet all expectations, but it also offers a variety of talents to keep you on your toes.

From singing, to aerialist work, to the art of the tease, this show comprises several acts by different performers showcasing what they do best. It was easy to tell that every performer was skilled and experienced. Each brought something different to the table, but their grip on the audience never wavered.

Lolly Moon was a real highlight of the show. With this traditional, but by no means basic, burlesque number, Lolly Moon dazzled the stage with power, confidence and rhinestones. This number offered the audience everything they came to see, and with Club Burlesque, Lolly Moon appears to be establishing herself as an influence in Perth’s burlesque following.

More often than not, burlesque is a solo art form, so it was a real delight to see a duo act by seasoned performers, Peaches and Cream. The novelty of a burlesque duo was not the only thing exciting about their performance, however. These artists were polished, sensual and gorgeous. It was obvious that Peaches and Cream have been performing together for quite some time.

Of course, and as always, it was a real pleasure to see Miss Betty Bombshell perform. She offers such ease in her every movement and transition, and her stage presence is second to none. If you want to see burlesque at its finest, Miss Betty Bombshell is your artist.

Club Burlesque is everything a burlesque show should be: sexy, glittery and fun. It is an excellent addition to the FRINGE WORLD Festival.
