Turn, Hell-hound, Turn!
Turn, Hell-Hound, Turn! Is an immersive re-framing of Shakespeare’s Macbeth. Jumping forward and back in time, this retelling allows audiences into the nightmare that unfolds after ambition gets the better of human nature.
This new translation by WAAPA graduates Lucy Lock and Jay Peardon, uses
Shakespeare's language to reveal the unrelenting nightmare of
sacrilegious ascendancy; of evil over good. With the help of an elusive
ensemble, this production offers a window into the myth of
self-determinism, placing the witches prophecy at the helm of Macbeth
and Lady Macbeth's rise and decline. So intoxicating in its anarchistic
upending of Shakespeare's narrative, this unmissable piece of theatre is
a rabid cry from the dark.
