A showcase of the power music has to unite, as well as just a plain and simple fun time.

Mama Alto is a gender-transcendent musical powerhouse; her solo performances have garnered critical acclaim all around Australia, as well as New York City. Her soaring vocals will make the hair on the back of your neck stand up in one moment and have you on your feet dancing the next.

The Perth Cabaret Collective features nine of Perth's best jazz musicians who will take you back to a bygone era of roaring music. All of them are masters of their instruments, it is fireworks seeing them all play together. Obviously, the combination of these two juggernauts of jazz music results in something truly special.

The underground studio at The State Theatre Centre makes for an unexpectedly perfect venue. It feels like you’re back in the 1920s watching a secret prohibition-era show. The audience is so close to the stage that it creates this electrifying yet intimate feeling in the room.

Mama Alto's voice is soul-shattering. She hits every note with such purpose and constantly gave me goosebumps. From the second she started she had the audience's full attention and never lost it. To try and describe her stage presence is a tricky task. She demands your attention with her fierce look and soulful voice yet she is so casual and inviting.

The Perth Cabaret Collective blew the roof off the place on multiple occasions. Each player had a moment to shine with their solo moments. There was never a single moment where any of the players were out of time or hit the wrong note. It was a night of great musicians doing what they do best.

To make things even more electrifying, the show features a surprise performance by Mx Burlesque Master winner of 2025 Sugar du Joure. She adds perfectly to the fun, risqué and wonderfully queer feeling of the show.

It was some of the most fun I’ve had at FRINGE WORLD 2025!
