The joy adults get from watching people blow phallic-shaped bubbles is unmatched. This Fringe show takes something as innocent as blowing bubbles and makes it naughty, explicit and shocking.

The team from Bubble Laboratory are serving up the soapy, sexy sequel to the original Bubble Show For Adults. The new show takes you on a journey through several clever skits, including an alien mating dance and a promiscuous 18th-century lady getting caught bubble-handed.

The showmanship was amazing, with the bubble artisans committing to developing fun, dramatic characters to complement their performances. At times the storylines were unnecessary, as they did take away from the amazing bubble creations. The show's strength lies in the skill it takes to create bubbles of that scale, magnitude and drama. One of the best parts of the show happened when the bubble artisans ditched the costumes and fanfare for a simple performance. The crowd watched on in awe at the patience and dedication necessary to create such bubble brilliance. It was simply astonishing to watch.

The show is dripping with sexual innuendos and well-placed bubbles. Some of the gags fell flat at times, with the crowd losing its energy halfway through the show. However, that ramped back up for the finale, which was a gorgeous feat of burlesque grace and strength. The 'Adults Only' in the show's name makes sense now, as it is sexy with a capital S.

This bubble show is a classic Fringe show where you leave confused at what you've just witnessed but in a good way. And, as the performers admitted at the end, 'it just kept on getting weirder, didn't it?'.

After watching this show, I have a newfound appreciation for bubbles and plan on attempting some of the tricks at my next dinner party. You can never see too many phallic bubble references.
