About this event

Terror Australis is a grindhouse cabaret edgier than a serial killer's machete. Performed by psycho-siren Leah Shelton, this f**ked-up outback Contiki tour is a frothing hot mess of black comedy, anti-burlesque and Hills-Hoist-pole-dance. Trapped inside a sweltering pulp film mash-up, Shelton trawls through the roadkill of the Australian national identity, drenched in sweat and beer. Winner: Adelaide Fringe Innovation Award, Darwin Fringe Best Cabaret, Matilda Awards Best Design. Nominee: Green Room Awards, Best Contemporary and Experimental Performer.
"... reveals the blood in the dirt of the Australian outback ... energetic, exciting, gruesome, beautiful" ★★★★½ Rip It Up, 2016

Presented by:
Leah Shelton

Leah is an Australian performance maker and psycho siren whose work sits in the sweet spot between cabaret, contemporary, and live art. Her work has taken her from rigorous physical theatre in Japan to the variety world of Las Vegas, and she cut her teeth playing mad, powerful heroines with Frank Theatre and making pop-satire works with The Brides of Frank. Leah is co-director of high camp neo-tiki dance theatre company Polytoxic, and has performed in variety shows for La Clique and Spiegelworld's Vegas Nocturne. She recently premiered her solo work Terror Australis which received the Adelaide Fringe Innovation Award, Matilda Award for Best Set Design, and Green Room Nomination for Best Contemporary and Experimental Performer.
