Aaron Smyth: A Light in the Shadows

Cabaret / Mentalism
Scaled fringe photo 2.2
For centuries the Tarot has been clouded in mystery and misconceptions. In reality Tarot is nothing more than a creator of content, a tool to develop self reflection, a picture book that can help bring subconscious thought forward.

Tarot is a tool that can allow focus and direction. This show is not about predicting futures and giving you answers, this show is about realising you already have all the answers.

A Light in the Shadows is created to help bring an understanding to this mysterious subject. The history, symbolism, and divination of Tarot will be uncovered, and together we will take a journey using intuition, interpretation and connection, to help clarify and enlighten situations that can arise within us all. Discover your light and free yourself from your own personal shadows.

I first became aware of Tarot as a young boy. At 10 I would go to my friend's house and together we would spend hours playing cards, unknowingly using the Tarot for our games instead of regular playing cards. At this age I knew that they were different, although we were told it was because they came from yugoslavia, but they felt special in a way. I loved the images that were on them, the names and the colours.

It wasn't until many years later that a girl I adored, my now wife, gave me my first Tarot reading. This is the time I became interested in the actual practice of interpreting Tarot. I was amazed at how something so simplistic could offer so much towards personal reflection.

Tarot is a personal experience, but it is an experience that I enjoy sharing with others.
