73 More Reasons to Fringe in 2021

The FRINGE WORLD 2021 surprises keep on coming because there are 73 more shows now on sale!

These latest releases round out a 2021 program that looks set to be 450 spectacular shows, with the final shows going on sale on Thursdays leading up to the Festival to allow interstate artists the flexibility to get their show in the Fringe as the border changes evolve.

At The Woodside Pleasure Garden see Fringe stalwart Gendermess with their new show Ginava’s Messy Friends, featuring drag, burlesque, performance and variety. Kids and families will lap up the Splash Test Dummies and Viola Variety invites you into the decadent world of daring circus, cheeky comedy and sparkling showgirls and showboys.

Jungle in Here is Fleabag meets The Office at Girls School and the theatre work is joined by MAN-BO, one of the greatest action heroes of all time (or so he says) and Friendly Feminism for the Mild Mannered, a cabaret for hard-core feminists and sceptics alike.

The Astor Theatre in Mt Lawley has several shows on sale including Let's Hear It For The Girls!, Perth’s first ever all-female comedy gala. Get off the phone and get out to Sunday Singles, a comedy show for Perth singles at Comedy Lounge and Burlesque Cinema presents: Burlesque at Rooftop Movies, the first immersive burlesque film experience in WA. Swoon and be serenaded by Sassafras: A Gypsy Swing Soirée at The Ellington Jazz Club and because chess is now back in fashion you can experience Check Mate: Courtyard Chess Tournament at the State Theatre Centre of WA.

Plastica Fantastica is a ridiculous one-woman comedy show performed by Brisbane based Jennifer Laycock at Belgian Beer Café and THE KARAOKE CLUB at Rosemount Hotel-Rosemount Hotel answers the question; what if the Breakfast Club met not in detention, but at a karaoke bar?

The 2021 FRINGE WORLD Festival is big variety of shows with a predominately WA program of 83% local shows along with 11% from interstate and 6% of shows from international artists whose permanent address is not Australia but who were in the country pre-quarantine.

FRINGE WORLD has made a range of changes to support artists and customers to engage fully in the Festival despite the COVID-19 restrictions. For artists and participants some fees have been waivered or deferred until after the Festival, and artists have greater flexibility than ever before to participate. Customers will also have peace of mind that if a show is cancelled or if they have COVID-19 symptoms they can get a refund and the Festival has a comprehensive COVID Safe Plan.

The 2021 FRINGE WORLD Festival runs January 15 January to 14 February. With tickets now on sale, West Aussies are encouraged to buy early, buy lots and make the most of the 2021 FRINGE WORLD Festival! Tickets can be purchased from fringeworld.com.au or the new FRINGE WORLD app, which is already proving a success with more than 4,000 downloads.

FRINGE WORLD gratefully recognises the support of its partners including: Principal Supporter: Lotterywest; Government Partners: the Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries and the City of Perth; and Principal Partners: Woodside; and Gage Roads Brew Co.
