TWO WEEKS LEFT TO FRINGE BINGE

FRINGE WORLD 2018 has recorded a bumper first two weeks and there’s still more to come with audiences set to enjoy Fringe entertainment until the Festival ends 25 February.

As of Friday 9 February, two weeks since Fringe kick-off, tickets sales are 11% up from same time last year with over 200,000 tickets sold to date. Last Saturday’s sales broke all previous records with more tickets sold in 24 hrs than across the entire 2011 FRINGE WORLD pilot season, and this weekend is predicted to be even busier.

The inaugural City of Perth Buskers Weekender hit the malls of Perth last weekend, contributing to a total free and ticketed attendance at the Fringe of over 400,000 over the last two weeks.

Some of the great new Fringe programs that launch their seasons this weekend includes the new Leedypalooza program in Leederville, the Pickled Swan in Midland and Funtavia in Geraldton.

Heading to the airport to attend the Funtavia launch, FRINGE WORLD Festival Director Amber Hasler said she continues to be thrilled at how attendance at the Fringe has continued to grow each year and how the positive impact of Fringe happens not only in Perth but also in other town centres across the state such as Geraldton.

“It’s great to see Northbridge come alive and the streets, restaurants and performance spaces full of happy Fringe attendees each weekend. I’m looking forward to seeing how Geraldton lights up with some pink Fringe flair this weekend alongside Leederville’s big new street festival.”

The final two weeks of the 2018 Fringe will see another huge array of shows premiering including highlights such as Hot Brown Honey, 2017 Indigenous Western Australian of the Year Gina Williams’ album launch Bindi Bindi and ANYMAN, a hard-hitting new theatre work created and performed by recovering drug addicts from Shalom House.

The new review website FringeFeed.com.au has already recorded more than 240 reviews for 2018 events with more appearing every day to help audiences choose what to see at the Fringe
